The Ramban’s commentary on the Torah is viewed as the foundation for much of what has become understood to be part and parcel of our Hashkafah (Jewish outlook). Never the less, his work is not readily accessible due to a number of causes. Firstly, the Ramban’s style of writing can challenge even a learned student in grasping the meaning of his text. Secondly, major fundamental ideas are spread throughout his work, making it difficult to locate a particular one. In addition, in order toachieve a thorough understanding of a particular topic it is often necessary to bring together a number of seemingly unrelated sections in his work which ultimately make up the whole picture. In this work, the author has collected and organized the Ramban’s Hashkafah by topic, and has clarified each text. In addition, he has expanded upon each of these topics with relevant citations from other major Rishonim and Achronim, creating a cohesive presentation of many of the foundations of our faith.
